What We Believe & Our Mission
What We Believe
The Son
Jesus Christ. Completely human, yet completely God. Jesus is the only way and plan for people to be brought back into a right relationship with God. He was born of a virgin birth, lived a perfect life, and was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He was buried, resurrected, and lives today.
Isaiah 7:14 ; Matthew 1:18-23, 3:17, 28:5-6 ; Luke 22:70 ; John 1:1 ; Acts 1:9 ; Romans 1:3-4, 8:1-3, 10:4 ; 1 Corinthians 8:6 ; Philippians 2:5-11 ; 1 Timothy 2:5-6, 3:16
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit guides us in our everyday walk with God. He exalts God and the truth. He convicts people of their sin, comforts us and helps to sanctify us to overcome our obstacles to become more like Christ. The Holy Spirit is promised to all believers, subsequent to salvation, for the gifts and power to be witnesses and anointed workers for God.
Genesis 1:2 ; Isaiah 61:1-3 ; Joel 2:28-32 ; Mark 1:10 ; Luke 1:35, 11:13 ; John 15:26, 16:7-14 ; Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 13:2 ; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 14:14-15 ; Galatians 5:22-23 ; Ephesians 1:13-14 ; 1 Thessalonians 4:3 ; 2 Peter 1:21, 3:18 ; Revelation 22:17
The Bible
The Bible is God's Holy Word to all People. Written by human authors under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is God's very word, therefore it is truth, without any error and relevant to our lives.
Deuteronomy 4:1-2 ; Isaiah 40:8 ; 2 Timothy 3:15-17 ; 1 Peter 1:25 ; 2 Peter 1:20-21 ; 2 Peter 3:16 ; Revelation 22:18-19
Eternity
Man will exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in unity with God through salvation. The punishment for sin is Hell. The gift of God through salvation is a union with Him in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real, and are eternal places for existence.
John 3:16 ; Romans 6:23 ; 1 John 2:25 ; Revelation 20:15
God Created Man
Man was created by God, in the image of God. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated from God through disobedience, Sin. Man cannot get back to a right relationship with God except through the forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.
Genesis 1:26-30, 2:7, 18-22 ; 3 ; Isaiah 6:5 ; Jeremiah 17:5 ; Acts 17:26-31 ; Romans 1:19-32 ; 1 Corinthians 1:21-31, 15:19 ; Ephesians 2 ; Colossians 1:21-23
Salvation
We believe in Salvation, and the only way to restore a relationship with God is through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for the forgiveness of sin. By placing faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as payment for sin we are saved. There is nothing we can do to be saved other than through Jesus Christ.
Genesis 1:26-30, 2:7, 18-22, and 3 ; Isaiah 6:5 ; Jeremiah 17:5 ; Acts 17:26-31 ; Romans 1:19-32 ; 1 Corinthians 1:21-31, 15:19 ; Ephesians 2 ; Colossians 1:21-23
The Church
The Church is made up of God's children, the believers. It is a community of saved believers in Christ. It fulfills Gods commandments and teachings to spread the Gospel of Christ to the world.
Matthew 16:18-19, 18:15-20 ; Acts 2:41-47, 14:23, 16:5, 20:28 ; 1 Corinthians 7:17, 9:13-14, 12 ; Ephesians1:22-23, 2:19-22 ; Colossians 1:18, 3:15 ; 1 Timothy 4:14 ; 1 Peter 5:1-4 ; Revelation 21:2-3
Our Mission
Welcome to Cora's Grove Church, where our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds.
What visitors usually notice first is the friendly atmosphere, free of judgement. Our mission is to be a hospital for those that are hurting, need deliverance, or someone to walk beside them on this journey. We embrace and love the person, and help guide their steps towards the saving Grace of Jesus Christ that can set them free from the bondages of their sin, guilt, shame, unforgiveness, addictions, past hurts etc…
Together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible—a church with relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we’d like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time.
Our size has benefits: we’re big enough for you to blend in and investigate the claims of Jesus Christ anonymously, if you choose to. Or you can dive into authentic relationships with others by connecting with our people through our LifeGroups and other ministries available for the family.
So whether you’re a spiritual seeker who’s just starting to ask questions about God, or a committed Christian who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at Cora's Grove Church.
You’ll find that this is a place where you really matter—because you matter to God.
